Smaal Water Services N.V. is a St. Maarten based company specialized in the sales, engineering, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of (drinking) water related equipment for the private and industrial market such as:

  • Standard and custom-built Reverse Osmosis Water Plants.
  • Energy Recovery & Post-treatment systems for RO Plants.
  • Irrigation pumps installations.
  • Spare parts and consumables for all kind of desalination installations in stock on St. Maarten at low rates!
  • Drinking water pumps installations.
  • Fire water pumps installations.
  • Engineering, design & construction of waste water treatment plants.
  • Engineering, design & construction of large diameter HDPE piping systems.
  • Engineering and construction of electrical main and control panels for RO and Pump installations.
  • Hot water heater systems.

Smaal Water Services N.V. was founded by Leendert Smaal and Jaap Lycklama in November 2004 and together represents more than 30 years experience in the water industry and in particular the Reverse Osmosis business.

Our company is currently responsible for the maintenance and operations of 25 (twenty-five) Reverse Osmosis Installations on St. Maarten.

Since 2005 we have manufactured and installed more than 60 (sixty) desalination installations on St. Maarten and other Caribbean Islands such as;

  • Curacao
  • Bonaire
  • St. Lucia
  • Antigua
  • Tortola
  • Bahamas
  • Turks & Caicos Islands.

In 2007 Smaal Water Services N.V. was awarded the engineering, design and construction contract for a 3700 m³/day 2-Pass Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Installation on St. Maarten located at Porto Cupecoy, Dutch Low Lands.

In 2008 Smaal Water services N.V. was awarded the engineering and design contract for the upgrade of some of the larger drinking water production units at the Cay Bay Water Plant on St. Maarten.

We also did a major overall on the 35,000 m³/day sea water pre-filtration system of the Cay Bay Water Plant.

Above project included the installation of large diameter pre-fabricated HDPE pipes.

In 2011 Smaal Water Services N.V. was awarded the “Storm Water Pumping Facility Upgrade Project” for the Government of St. Maarten.

This project includes the construction of a 50,000 GPD pumping station, the renovation of a 18,000 GPD pumping station and the installation of a 48” HDPE discharge line with a length of approximately 1000 meters.

The system has been comissioned October 2012.
